Being 1 Month Pregnant - What It Is All About

For many women, it is difficult to know that they are 1 month pregnant. It is only until the symptoms of pregnancy become evident that these women knew about it. So what are these symptoms? The first indicator is usually a missed period.

Food during pregnancy

Toxoplasmosis, is a disease which is contracted by contact with cat feces. It is spread by a parasite which can lead to miscarriages, stillbirth and birth defects.

Smoking

Smoking during pregnancy is definitely a no no. It has been linked to a low birth weight, miscarriage and premature birth in many different studies. Second hand smoke poses the same dangers during pregnancy, and should be avoided at all costs.

Caffeine

Some studies on caffeine during pregnancy have led to the conclusion that the two do not mix well together, as caffeine may increase the possibility of miscarriage and low birth weight. On the other hand, other studies have shown no link between the two. Obviously an excessive amount of caffeine is a bad idea regardless of pregnancy. Food Sources That Boost Glutathione Naturally

Glutathione, the body's master antioxidant and detoxifier, is one of the 14 "Superfoods" listed in SuperFoods Rx : Fourteen Foods That Will Change Your Life, co-authored by Dr Steven Pratt.

Glutathione levels cannot be increased to a clinically beneficial extent by orally ingesting a single dose of glutathione. (1) This is because glutathione is manufactured inside the cell, from its precursor amino acids, glycine, glutamate and cystine.

The manufacture of glutathione in cells is limited by the levels of its sulphur-containing precursor amino acid, cysteine.

Cysteine - as a free amino acid - is potentially toxic and is spontaneously catabolized or destroyed in the gastrointestinal tract and blood plasma. However, when it is present as a cysteine-cysteine dipeptide, called cystine, it is more stable than cysteine.

Consuming foods rich in sulphur-containing amino acids can help boost glutathione levels. Here are some food sources and dietary supplements that help boost glutathione levels naturally.

1. N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC)

It is derived from the amino acid L-Cysteine, and acts as a precursor of glutathione. NAC is quickly metabolized into glutathione once it enters the body. It has been proven in numerous scientific studies and clinical trials, to boost intracellular production of glutathione, and is approved by the FDA for treatment of accetaminophen overdose. Because of glutathione's mucolytic action, NAC (brand name Mucomyst) is commonly used in the treatment of lung diseases like cystic fibrosis, bronchitis and asthma.

2. Milk Thistle, Silymarin

Milk thistle is a powerful antioxidant and supports the liver by preventing the depletion of glutathione. Silymarin is the active compound of milk thistle. Kinds of Diseases

"Disease" originally referred to what it says: dis-ease. A person who did not feel at ease or was uncomfortable and not well was said to be at a dis-ease. Nowadays of course when you talk about disease, we mean a particular discomfort caused by a dysfunction of some part of the body.

Some diseases attack very suddenly. We called these "acute diseases" ("acute" means "sharp"). These can be serious or not, but they usually make the patient feel quite ill. The acute disease ends with a patient either dying of the disease or recovering from it. Sometimes, a disease can continue for a long time. This is called a chronic disease (from 'chronos', meaning 'time'). If an organ of the body is so damaged that it can no longer work well, we now call this ailment an "organic disease".

Nourishment

Many organic diseases are caused by parasites which are small organisms that live within us and take nourishment from our systems. Parasites do damage to their hosts and are responsible for "parasitic diseases". Some parasites, like worms, are big enough to be seen with the naked eye. In some parts of the world, people can easily pick up hookworms when they walk barefoot. These worms travel into the intestines and live on blood. This disease can easily weaken a person and some of them die.

On the other hand, some parasites as so small that they are cannot be seen without a microscope. Such parasites are called microorganisms or germs. They cost the "germ diseases". Germs are carried in many ways from person-to-person, most especially when somebody coughs or sneezes. Sometimes they can get into our systems through food and drinking water. It is so easy for a sick person to communicate their disease to a healthy one. For this reason, such diseases are called "communicable diseases" or "infectious diseases".

If the germs of a certain disease are easily spread from person to person, it is called a "contagious disease". Germs come in many sizes and kinds. Relatively small germ cells are called protozoa and the most common "protozoan disease" is malaria. The malarial parasite lives in red blood cells and destroys them. Many people in the tropical parts the world suffer from malaria every year, which probably kills more people than any other disease.

Other germs are very simple plant cells called fungi or molds. Athlete's foot is an example of a "fungus disease".

Bacteria are even simpler than just germs. They are living things that can be seen only through an ordinary microscope. "Bacterial diseases" include tuberculosis, scarlet fever, tonsillitis and many other simple infections.

Finally, there are other germs too small to be seen under an ordinary microscope that they need to be checked under an electron microscope. These are the viruses that are responsible for the most familiar sicknesses like measles, chickenpox, mumps and the flu. These are also called "viral diseases".

There are other types of diseases that are not caused by germs. In fact, disease can be brought on by any physical or chemical injury. Too much sun can bring sunburn or sunstroke. Some chemicals that enter the body can be poisonous. Sometimes a harmless substance becomes poisonous to a particular person. It makes a person sensitive to a substance in food, pollen, or even some medicine. He is said to suffer from an allergy, which is a form of disease.

People in some lines of work sometimes run into particular risks of poison or other chemical damage. Some people who work in the paint industry (because of their exposure to lead) may absorb dangerous chemicals into their bloodstream. Lead poisoning is an example of an "occupational disease".

A person can also be sick because of what he has not taken into the body. Remember that the body requires a certain amount of good food and clean water to live. If the food or water lacks certain substances that the body requires, the body develops a "deficiency disease" like anemia (which is the lack of iron in the blood). In the absence of the necessary vitamins, diseases like crickets and scurvy develop. These are also known as "vitamin deficiency diseases".

Enzyme Nutrition - The Key to Longevity

Enzymes are long-chain proteins held together in very specific shapes by hydrogen bonds, like a ball of string which is held in a very particular shape by tiny strips of Velcro. If anything happens to the Velcro-like bonds, the enzyme protein unravels, losing its shape. Without the shape, the key can no longer fit the lock. Then it's no longer an enzyme - just another foreign protein.

People around you are getting fatter than you think. You are not alone. Did you ever ask yourself why this is happening? Are you part of this relatively new trend or do you think something is going on? What has changed in the last generation to let this phenomena take over our lives? I dared to wonder what was happening to me and why. Is nutrition so important that we need to stop and say: wait a minute, something is wrong?

  2. What do we eat now compared to 100 years ago?
  3. Why are we getting fatter?

Eating food is the only way to stay alive. No species can survive without food.

  1. Why are we the only species that cooks food is not because we are the only ones that use heat. Many animals use heat to help their food be more digestible. Squirrel's only eat their raw nut when it has sprouted after being buried. Animals instinctively know when food is ready to be eaten. They do not use fire as we do, ever wondered why we do?
  2. We eat more processed foods now then we ever did 100 years ago and we are getting fatter and more obese by the minute. Something tells me I need to learn why? Eating raw foods has become an exception instead of a rule.
  3. Why are we getting fatter is mostly due to our ever changing lifestyle. Their is nothing wrong with the way we live as long as we take the time to feed ourselves better and take better care of our children.

Obesity comes from a lack of knowledge and poor example setting from our peers. We need to look at what other species do to lead a healthier and longer life than we do.

Eating raw fruits and vegetables is the best source of naturally grown foods that we have. I am really glad I decided to stop and listen and understand why I was getting fatter. You my friend need to do the same today.

Perhaps the most infuriatingly difficult part about having to suffer gout is the seemingly endless list of food you are not allowed to eat. Certain diseases like hypertension, diabetes, and of course, gout, require special diets that should be strictly followed. Gout is an acute form of arthritis that is caused by the crystallization of excess uric acid in the soft tissue of the joints. One can get uric acid from many different kinds of food. This article will guide gout sufferers on which foods are safe to eat and which ones that should be avoided.

Fruits are very good for people with gout. Be sure to eat plenty of fruits, especially cherries. Drink its juice as well. Cherry juice has been reported to decrease the levels of uric acid in the blood, but there are still no official findings of its therapeutic effect. Fruits high in vitamin C like orange, lemon, and grapefruit are highly recommended. Complex carbohydrates should come from brown rice and whole wheat bread. Protein-rich foods like fish and lean meat like chicken breast are allowed. Soy products are a great source of protein, too. Water is the best beverage for gout sufferers. High water intake is necessary to flush out any excess uric acid from the bloodstream. Drinking eight to twelve (or more) glasses of water is highly advisable.

Avoid these at all costs

Unfortunately, there are many foods that people with gout should avoid. Red meat, organ meat, and shellfish are off the menu so pass up on the steak, baked oysters, and sausages whose casing is actually intestine. Steer clear of spinach, cauliflower, legumes, and beans because they are all notorious for causing a rise in uric acid levels. Alcohol intake should be regulated, or if possible, eliminated completely. Intake of simple sugars, oil, and salt should also be controlled. Removing all these foods from one's diet may be difficult, but if it means being able to walk normally and free from gout pain, then it may be worth it.
