A vegetable soup diet is an incredible way to both lose weight and pack your body full of nutrients. There's different approaches you can take to a vegetable soup diet. You can go all out and do an exclusive vegetable soup diet, or you can simply replace it with a few of your meals, which will cut down your overall caloric intake, while adding a horde of new nutrients to your diet you normally wouldn't get. Just buying canned vegetable soup from the store is not the way to go for a true vegetable soup diet. The sodium content is through the roof and the vegetable content is often weak. This can easily lead to bloating and a false sense of nourishment and nutrition.

So whats the answer to going about creating the easiest, healthiest vegetable soup diet? Use a food processor and/or juicer. A good inexpensive option I've come across is the juicer put out by the fitness guru Jack Lalanne. This isn't a plug, it's just a relatively cheap machine that i've found kills two birds with one stone. And it's easy as you don't have to stand around and peel all your vegetables. Most of them you can just stick right in the machine. What happens is you get a puree juice from the vegetables, and you also get the left over "pulp" as well in a separate container. This makes it perfect for a vegetable soup diet. You get both the broth and leftover vegetable chunks at the same time. Now of course for your vegetable soup diet you can also add your own cut up fresh vegetables. I make a tomato soup this way and then throw in fresh broccoli and bits of green pepper. This is not only good, but amazingly filling for a vegetable soup diet! You can also add in some fresh herbs or spices and you have a very unique, tasty, and filling vegetable soup diet that you'd never find in a can.

Travel Friendly Snacks and Nutrition For Kids

Being fully-prepared for a long or even short trip can be a daunting task. You have to remember toothpaste, shampoo, socks, contact lens solution, and who knows what else. Food

If you're traveling by train, you have the freedom to bring almost anything you want. In the times I've traveled by train, knowing the trip would last for at least six hours, I decided to bring as many items as I could to avoid spending money for expensive (yet tasty) train food. If you are traveling by train, some travel-friendly snacks can include anything from the simple non-perishable snacks mentioned above, to homemade sandwiches and your own beverages. The sky is pretty much the limit on the train. But to avoid having to heat your food up, it is recommended that you take along prepared deli-styled sandwiches (cold cuts, chicken salad) or raw vegetables.

The only form of travel that might be more convenient than a train is a car. Of course in your car you make the rules, so you can bring anything that you want - even foods you may need to heat up (I've heated up my food in local convenience stores with no problems in the past). It is still best to bring as many non-perishable or barely-perishable items as you can, because once you begin traveling you may not want to stop often. Also, keep in mind that anything can happen on the road, so take this opportunity to prepare for an emergency. Stock up with as much water and canned food (bring a can opener) as your car can permit. That way, not only will you have snacks, but you'll also be prepared for anything else.

Travel-friendly snacks are perfect additions to any trip. And since traveling can be a tiring experience, bringing something light along with you cannot only keep your energy up, but also your spirits. Don't take the chance of being unprepared during a delay of extensive layover. Packing some travel-friendly snacks for your next trip may make traveling easier than ever.

Today, you go to the store and buy a little container of olives. You can get them in all different shapes sizes colors, and more. You can buy them with pimentos in them or not. Many wonder how this food became such an important part of Greek culture and large part of their diet.

Ancient Greeks used olives as there main source of fat instead of meat from animal because they thought it was an unhealthy way of getting fat, since the barbarians (non Greeks) ate that way. In actuality, the barbarians ate meat and their products such as milk and cheese because they were nomadic and had no way of growing an olive tree or preparing olives if they saw any.

Food

Preserving olives was possible because there was salt everywhere! Since Ancient Greece was a huge island basically, salt was easily accessible and allowed them to preserve olives with ease.

To preserve their olives, first ancient Greeks would gather them while they where not ripe. They left them in eater that they changed every 12 hours with water that contains wood ash and then again cleared the water. It might have taken a week. To decrease the time sometimes they would cut them with a knife. They, oil would come forth from the olives but this was just used to help preserve them. They were then kept in wine, vinegar, and salty water.

Olive oil was created to help preserve the olives. Olive oil was a great source of the Ancient people's diet because it was their main source of fat. You might think that fish was a main source of their diet, but these things were very expensive so common people mainly just had olive oil. It is not as it is today where people eat a large variety of food no matter who they are. Ancient Greece was a very socially unequal place.

If you ever dip bread in olive oil, you are carrying out the actions of an aristocratic meal. In ancient times, common Greeks mostly ate porridge and not bread for carbohydrates. Bread was a lot of work to make and was not a common food among them.

Today, olives are eaten by anyone who has a few bucks and can walk or drive to a store. Not so in the days of past. Still, ancient Greeks still figured they could turn tiny strange spherical objects on a tree into a delicious and nutritious food for all of the Mediterranean.
